John Whitworth Robson was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 1, 1881. Robson was the third son of Dr. John W. Robson and Cella Lewis Robson.
His education started at the Shady Side Academy, Philadelphia; Pennsylvania Graphic Sketch Club (Founded by Samuel Fleisher in 1898;American Art Association of Paris, 1905-1908.

This is a gorgeous hand china painted porcelain bud vase with what looks like peace rose sprays. It has heavy gold gilding around the top rim. It measures 7.25 inches tall and 2.25 inches across the base. It is in excellent condition, no chips, no cracks and very little wear to paint or gilding. It has the initial JH of the artist added to the leaf part. I don't know the maker or age it is a auction item.

For sale is an unusual 1863 colored print of the US Navy Ironclad "ROANOKE". The framed print is 11 inches long by 8 inches tall. It is titled "U.S. IRON CLAD STEAM-SHIP "ROANOKE" / The first Turreted Frigate in the U.S. 1863". It was drawn by G. Hayward for D.T. Valentine's Manual 1863, as shown. This is a really wonderful hand carved frog out of obsidian stone. It is black but iridescent or shimmery. It is very well carved, not crude looking. It measures 2.25 inches long and and 2.25 inches across. It does have a pretty good chip on it's one hind foot. This is not onyx. I do know know the age or carver. It is probably from Mexico.

Nicely carved Japanese man holding a very large fish probably a Carp.
(White spots appearing in photo are flashback not physically on this piece )
This statue is made of wood....and is wonderfully carved by hand...though base may be machine cut.
I am not sure of the exact wood used--but it is to a type of hard wood...and carved out of one solid piece .
In the Asian world --this man and his fish have a special meaning to life...once told to me ---but now forgotten.
