Fascinating Ivory Carving Corn with Interior Scene

This amazing little ivory carving is in the form of an ear of corn with a "cutaway" type view inside to a very detailed scene of people and houses. Although I believe this to be done in the 20th centuring using mechanical tools rather than hand tools, it is still an amazing feat to have created such a piece. It is artist signed as well. Excellent condition.

This little 9 1/2" x 17" tray is very beautiful. The wood tray has an enlaid wood border and a cut out style handle at each end. It is a souvenir from Rio. The glass is reverse painted with black and gold accents on glass. The scenery is the island, water and palm trees. The back ground seems to be a type of foil which gives the appearance of abalone or mother of pearl. Someone told me it was actually butterfly wings.
