This depiction of the Russian Fairy Tale, "Ivan Tsarevich and the Grey Wolf was originally pained by Ivan Bilibin in 1901. This contemporary rendition by, L. This little 9 1/2" x 17" tray is very beautiful. The wood tray has an enlaid wood border and a cut out style handle at each end. It is a souvenir from Rio. The glass is reverse painted with black and gold accents on glass. The scenery is the island, water and palm trees. The back ground seems to be a type of foil which gives the appearance of abalone or mother of pearl. Someone told me it was actually butterfly wings.
