Here is a hand carved mahogany box from Honduras. Lined with red velvet, and lockable, it would make a wonderful jewelry box. The key has been taped inside the lid of the box as shown in the pictures. The box measures 12" X 7" X 4 1/4", with carvings of Aztec figures on the top and sides. The box is hand-marked "Hecho en Honduras, C.A." (Made in Honduras, Central America) on the bottom.

stunning antique box! It is made of paper mache and then lacquered. The top has a gorgeous
Mother-of-pearl floral inlay. Few nicks on the corners, common with these old lacquer items. It
just shows the tight, almost wood like, paper mache work under it. No marking but this was very
common work around the Victorian era from the orient. When closed stands 1 5/8” tall by 9 7/8”
long and 7 3/8” wide.

old jewelry box is called Lacquer Ware. It was very popular in the 50’s during the Korean War.
These are general made of an excellent paper mache with a lacquer finish. Hard to tell on this one

SM made in Italy label as well as red label identifying as M.I. Hummel picture. It is approximately 5 3/4 x 4 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches. The finish shows minor wear and the lid shows some roughness by the hinges. The spot on the umbrella is not damage, because it is under the lacquer finish, which I suppose would make it a manufacturing flaw. Cedar box with brass fittings and loop for locking with tiny padlock (not included). Exterior measurements are 7 1/2 x 5 inches and the interior measurements are 5 3/4 x 4 1/4 inches. The height is 2 inches. The interior is in a clean condition. The brass fittings are not damaged. There are a couple of small scratches on the back.
