Very collectible cookie jar .
Made in Japan.
Older --but true age unknown
This cookie jar is made to be some sort of whimsical animal--almost like a beaver.
Its sweet upturned eyes and what appears to be a carrot gives a gentle humor to itself.
Painted in Primary colors of yellow with reds and black and blues highlights.
Ceramic composition.
Stands aprox. 9 inches high.
Some loss of paint
Small crack on side.

Nicely carved Japanese man holding a very large fish probably a Carp.
(White spots appearing in photo are flashback not physically on this piece )
This statue is made of wood....and is wonderfully carved by hand...though base may be machine cut.
I am not sure of the exact wood used--but it is to a type of hard wood...and carved out of one solid piece .
In the Asian world --this man and his fish have a special meaning to life...once told to me ---but now forgotten.

This is a great vintage figurine made of hand painted glazed ceramic. Most likely a California pottery piece. Has eyes that look like the work of Heidi Schoop. Measures over 11" tall and is chip and crack free. Mostly green & white with some gold highlights. The face is what makes this piece ususual. Focus is on the eyes, No other facial features have been added but the bone structure is very evident. Not sure if this man is Japanese or Chinese. Asian Black and Red Lacquer Serving Tray w/ Gold Gilt

This is for a wonderful black and red lacquered serving tray measuring 13 inches across. It has beautiful flowers and grasses and stylized lines and diamonds shapes with gold gilding. It is in very good used condition. Just a small amount of wear to the gilding. No chips and no cracks. It feels light like maybe paper mache or some light wood. But it is unmarked so I don't know for sure. It is an auction piece so I don't now the age or origin, but it looks Asian in design.

I'm not sure what these are for. Small ramekin style bowl with lid. Sits in a footed coaster which can be turned over and used for a base for the bowl, or fits on top of the bowl to use like a small appetizer plate. White glazed pottery with a hand painted blue bamboo pattern and a bamboo shape finial. No marks on the bottom, but on top of each lid is a hand painted (looks like a bird in flight)detail in brown. This attractive wallpocket features a Japanese male peasant figure carrying a basket on his back. It is in the Banko style and while there appears to be an impressed mark, the mark is unreadable. His clothes consist of a chartreuse tunic with green trim, chartreuse shoes, and blue pants. His basket is brown with yellow straps. The face is left unglazed. This beautiful doll stands 13" tall. The wooden base is 6 x 4 3/4. This came from an estate sale. The owner told me that this was a promotional item from Yamaha many years ago. There is a sticker on the bottom showing 30. I left it there, thinking it may have been a number from the salesperson from Yamaha. Other than being a bit dusty, this is in perfect condition.
