GAR Sword Lincoln Engraved Blade -Civil War Veteran

The GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) was the Civil War Union veteran organization. A sword like this could be purchased by a member vet who was very proud of his service or had extra money (Or both). The blade engraving is very elaborate. On one side is a portrait engraving of Abraham Lincoln. Below that is the obligatory stand of arms which is well executed with cannon, drums, sabers, flags, bugle, many pole arms and even a liberty cap atop the highest pole-arm. Above that is the E Pluribus... Click for details

Named USN American Navy Civil War Sword by Pollard

Lovely Union Navy Civil War officer's sword by Pollard & Co, Boston MA. The true personality with this sword is that the fellow's name is engraved twice with the name John A Floyd. First on the scabbard and then on the top of the guard beside the USN casting. Both are done in different styles and both are undoubtedly original to the sword being the correct style, Sunken in and heavily patinated. I was only able to find him listed as a coxswain which is sort of a cool job. Certainly some more... Click for details

This is a great looking example. Has a great "been there" look but not too beat up at all. The front plate has a few stress lines and a ding at about 2 o'clock (See last photo). A nice, dark, even patina throughout. Reverse shows the hook and the puppy paws. There is a maker mark visible that looks like W H SMITH. Very cool belt buckle.

Here is a unique offering. First there is a photo of a well fed Confederate veteran. While the grouping came out of Richmond, Virginia, I unfortunately do not know who this fellow is. Included are three Confederate veteran medals, all of which can be seen on our man's chest in the photograph. The first is the standard UCV Southern Cross of Honor. Looks great but is minus the pin on the reverse. Second is a 1907 U.C.V. medal from Richmond. The front has a dedication to Jefferson Davis. The... Click for details

Rare Confederate Civil War wood water canteen. Painted grey, all original, it measures 9" in diameter. Etched into one side, but very faded appears to be a name. The first name begins with an "E" and the 2nd name a "B", might be Boyette. Considered to be in excellent condition for a wooden canteen that went though the Civil War, this would be wonderful addition to any Confederate wartime collection.

Very interesting Honorable Discharge from the Army of the Confederate States. Condition is rough but I doubt many of these have survived, much less even given out as the Confederacy was never in a good position to just let trained soldiers walk away. The ink is very faded but I know "document guys" do have ways of bringing old, faded ink back to life. It is possible to make out a lot of the details, though. This certificate was given to William H Dukes, a private of Captain Francis M (?) Company... Click for details

Very cool G.A.R. kepi for the first New Hampshire regiment which fought at First Bull Run and other notable engagements. Very neat bullion patches and GAR buttons. Very solid structural condition. Damage consists of 2 nips to the fabric and a blister to the bottom of the visor all shown in the photos. Nips are hard to notice because of the dark color of the hat overall. Label looks to read "THE M. C. LILLEY & CO COLUMBUS OHIO MANUFACTURERS OF MILITARY AND SOCIETY GOODS". I am not sure what the... Click for details
