Imperial German Naval Empty Photo Album - WWI Navy

Very attractive Imperial German navy photo album. Reddish brown color with very nice flag artwork on the cover with the words "Kriegs Erinnerungen" or "War Memories". Unfortunately the album is empty but the first page has the original owner's name "Steinbach" and the years 1914 1915 and 1916. The rest I can not make out and it looks like the location was intentionally erased. This writing is shown on the last attached image. The rest of the 46 pages look the same front and back for a total of... Click for details

Cased 1939 Iron Cross First Class by 65 - WWII German
click for details
Very nice 1st Class 1939 Iron Cross. Proper construction for the hallmark 65 which indicates this was made by the firm Klein & Quenzer A.G. Idar Oberstein. The cross itself is in superb condition throughout. The leatherette covered case shows the usual shelf wear as per attached images. The snap works fine but the box is a little tight and needs to be held open. I assume this is from the fabric at the hinge area shrinking a bit. Not a big deal at any rate. Great looking medal.

Hungarian Combat Leadership Badge - WWII Officer Award

Very interesting badge. The Hungarian Combat Leadership badge was awarded to officer's who led a unit of up to regiment strength in live combat. This is an award that carried a solid level of prestige. This badge was active from 1922 to 1944 so obviously most were awarded for WWII service. I am not sure if this would have been awarded for previous WWI service but certainly a good decoration either way. Good looking award with attractive enamel work.

L/64 Assmann Paratrooper Badge - WWII German Luftwaffe

Very nice example of a cool badge. These L/64 marked Assmann paratrooper badges were made in 1944 through early 1945. This one is a textbook example with the characteristic thin eagle on the front. The reverse shows the correct marking on the back of the eagle, rivet placements and four circular clamp indentations. the reverse right rivet has the proper "1" just above. Pin, hinge and hook assembly are all textbook correct. Just a nice, solid example of what I consider a really cool badge.

GI Signed WWII Japanese Flag - 27th Division Medical

Very cool signed Japanese WWII Hinomaru flag. Flag has corner tabs typical of WWII production. Has many GI signatures from a medical detachment of the 27th Infantry Division. This was the first stateside division deployed after the Pearl Harbor attack. The red center disc has bleed a bit probably due to ferric compound in the dye. There are five spots of staining that were probably all bunched into the same corner when the flag was folded and in the original owner's pocket. Probably a combat... Click for details

Very cool plaque given "To General Harold K. Johnson, Chief of Staff United States Army from 1st Air Cavalry Division Artillery On The Occasion of Christmas 1965". Nice central metal map of Vietnam. 11 DI crests around the border are all in nice shape except one which is missing one post causing it to swivel which is sort of nice because it shows how they were mounted; Mainly direct mounted instead of having the posts broken off and the crest glued to the wood. I know some of these crests are... Click for details

Seriously nice bronze armored assault badge. Maker marked Karl Wurster. Front shows very nice chocolate bronze finish. The second image shows just light rubbing to the higher raised edges. Sort of nice to show the contrast and how much of the bronze finish there is. Reverse shows the correct question mark catch. Terrific looking badge throughout.

Very interesting travel and tourism book for Germany for the 1935 year produced by the German America Line of cruise ships. Unfortunately it starts at page 19 so the beginning is a casualty of time. What remains is a fascinating write up of tourism points of interest in Germany, many period advertisements etc. The advertisements are very cool and offer a feel for prewar Germany. The inside of the rear cover is a large ad for the 1936 Olympics which was obviously a big deal for Germany. Also a... Click for details

Army Winter Fur Lined Cap - WWII German Eastern Front

After the first disastrous winter on the Eastern Front the Germans realized that had to quickly develop better cold weather gear. This style of fur lined cap was popular with German soldiers in Russia. This has field grey wool construction with mottled rabbit fur lining. The front, ear flaps and rear neck all can fold down and can be held in place with the string tie. I am not going to go through the process of untying and retying but the next to last photo can offer an idea of what this looks... Click for details

Beautiful Mettlach stein that has been engraved as a shooting prize. Engraving looks to read something like "For keepsake of the Prussian King's shooting event August 1 1891 Feldwebel Muller. Feldwebel, of course, is an age old term for the equivalent of a staff sergeant. Stein itself is nicely marked with the Villeroy & Boch Mettalch ink stamp and shows the usual high quality of ceramic work typical of this quality oriented firm. Lovely example from a time when martial skills were highly prized... Click for details

This is a hard to find Japanese army cold weather or arctic cap. As most of their operations were in warm areas these are not too common. This one is also in superb condition and would be nearly impossible to improve on. The fabric is clean and unstained. Every button and every loop to attach to the respective buttons is present. No loose threads, stains or anything of the sort throughout. Probably the best detail is that even the fur is clean and in healthy shape. Fur with this kind of age is... Click for details

NJice, honest example of a desirable Waffen SS EM/NCO belt buckle. Injection molded aluminum construction. RZM 822/38 corresponds to the firm Christian Theodor Dicke. This buckle is complete but certainly for the guy that likes the "been there" look. Honest aging throughout (See images). Some light smoothing to raised details typical of period use on soft metal. Nick on the right edge is not disfiguring but worth mentioning. Left side of the buckle has a slight pushing in that is very subtle and... Click for details

Nice unmarked Luftwaffe ground assault badge. Overall a very nice example but in all honesty I believe the hook catch has been replaced or repaired. It is a good job and most likely a period repair as the wear is consistent with the rest of the badge and looks quite natural.
