This is an antique victorian funeral remembrance card or momento mori for Achsa McClary died May 27, 1898 aged 49 years 6 months. These cards were given out at the funeral and kept as a remembrance as well as sent to relatives and friends who couldn't attend the funeral. This is a fabulous antique woven sewing basket dating 1910-1930s and measuring 4 inches high and 9 inches in diameter. The basket is in excellent condition and most of the original decorations are there including beads, a chinese coin and celluloid rings and bar. I think another coin a several beads have been removed. But it is very difficult to find one with any of the original decorations and an intact undamaged basket. Lovely! I am not sure of the original purpose of this moose, but over the years, we've used it as a pencil holder or just a general catch-all. It is a very heavy material which I would assume is ceramic. Featured for your enjoyment is another wonderful item from Minnesota’s Attic. This set of little metal cast pilgrims are a souvenir of Boston Mass according to the sticker left on one’s hat. They are then hand painted in the traditional gray. Both have a tad of wear to the paint. I think they may have had a wife as the outstretched hand shows something may have been there once.
