I hate to tell people how ignorant I am, because after toting this heavy piece all over the country and calling it "a bowl," my children finally told me that it was a planter. Nevertheless, I really love it and continue to use it as a nut bowl. The staves are about 1/2 inches thick. It is approximately 11 inches in width and 5 3/4 inches in height. Sew cute! Probably from the '50's, this sewing box is 8" in diameter and 4 1/2" high. It has two separate compartments; the lower box has posts for 16 spools, the upper, smaller box is plain inside. The top lid has a pin cushion in the middle. It is so old, some of the small, decorative thread on the cushion has rotted but the cushion appears to be intact. I left the old needles stuck in it. This '70's tray is a Therma-Serve by Westwood and according to the paper sticker still intact, stain proof, shock proof plastic, top rack dishwasher safe. The six removable trays are amber in color and made from hard plastic and look just like glass until you pick one up and realize how light it is.
