This beautiful majolica comport was made by Minton. The registration mark on the base dates it to 1860! The outer band is about 1 1/2", and sort of resembles a wicker basket pattern. This pattern is also repeated on the flared foot. There is also a pattern of what I would describe as "wedges" on the inside of the bowl. It is a deep green in color. We have 2 of these beautiful majolica comports. They were made by Wedgwood of Etruria & Barlaston, England. Each is in the shape of a cabbage leaf with a basketweave background showing through at the edges. They measure just shy of 8" in diameter 4 1/8" high and are about 1/2" deep. One is marked is marked with "GG4" and "7 P 55" as well as the Wedgwood mark, although the Wedgwood mark was smeared when applied. The other is marked "GG4" and "12 P 54". face on the end of a tree trunk. The rim has leaves and some sort of fruit. There appears to
be a scene that is from the medieval period of men and women. They are outside a
