I know nothing about this amazing piece of pottery. It is extremely heavy, and has interesting glaze effects. It does have a fleur de lis mark impressed into the bottom. (see photo). It has matte, glazed, metalic and even crackle sections of finishes. In the photo the inside of the vase shows a light color, but is actually a charcoal color like the bottom. Carstens Tönnieshof (1945-1984), German pottery vase in a glazed lava style mustard yellow top half and unglazed black bottom half of vase, brown on the inside of the vase. Standing at 8" (20 cm), 6" (15.25 cm) wide, with a 3.5" (9 cm) opening. Marking on the underside (photo attached) as a double house symbol, TC overlapping, 5002-20, West Germany. Gorgeous piece with no damage or repairs. High quality pottery! Circa 1960's. Beautiful! (white spots on vase are from camera glare).

This 4-fluted vase was made by The Rookwood Pottery Company. The Company was operational from 1879-1967. This piece was made in 1950, as indicated by the "L" under the Rookwood mark on the base. It is very unique in both shape and color. The shape is bulbous at the bottom, then sort of pinched at the top to form 4 flutes. The glaze is beautiful. This is a pair of crimson porcelain vases, 13 3/4" tall, showing the mark of Carlsbad, Victoria, Austria in gray. Within the cartouche on front is an overpainted transfer of an alderly gentleman lying on a bed with a young woman wearing a crown, bending over him. The crimsin ground is detailed with gold and there are gold handles, showing slight gold loss. Gold medallion on reverse of each. These may have had covers. 1891-1918.

Produced by Roseville in the 1920's and unsigned as were most Roseville pieces of that era, the piece is marked in red crayon pencil 479 on the bottom. The vase is glazed in mottled olive greens with flows of crystaline turquoise and features an embossed geometric design of squares around the collared rim. It stands about 8 3/8" tall and is 4 1/2" in diameter at the mouth. There are no cracks, chips or crazing. A remarkable piece that would fit well into an Arts and Crafts decor.
