Pitman coin silver cream jug
Silver : Coin Silver : Hollowware
Bruce Cherner Antique Silver
2337 On Hold
height 7 1/8 inches, weight 5.52 Troy ounces, fine condition, monogrammed as shown in third enlargement.
This mark is commonly given to Saunders Pitman, but we are not so certain that it is his. Gorham coin silver cream jug model number 70
Silver : Coin Silver : Hollowware
Bruce Cherner Antique Silver
2323 Sold
engine turned decoration and C scroll handle with integral cast floral support, height 4 3/4 to top and 5 3/4 inches across handle to spout, weight 6.92 Troy ounces, some minor dents and unhappy handle join (shown in fourth enlargement) but very good looking nonetheless. Engraved "Mary Mitlacker Brehme / From her Grandmother."
We have always been fond of Gorham's first high style designs, especially those in the manner of Mary Todd Lincoln's tea service.

Samuel Kirk antique FIDDLE tablespoon
Silver : Coin Silver : 18th and Early 19th Century
Bruce Cherner Antique Silver
2307 Sold
with short back midrid (a/k/a reverse fiddle tip't), pointed chamfered shoulders and a pronounced "flat" at leading edge, length 9 inches, weight 2.23 Troy ounces, monogrammed as shown. There is a small imperfection on back of bowl (see third photo) but otherwise fine condition.
We often speak of the "hallmarks" on American silver, but it is worth noting that very few pieces are actually hallmarked. This one bears the Baltimore assay office stamps commonly associated with 1824.

Stamped "H&S" in two circles joined by a diamond for Syracuse, New York's Hotchkiss & Schreuder, this 8 3/4" long, 1.7 T. oz., berry spoon dates from the 1860s. It is a fine representation of the design sensibilities and manufacturing skills of the period. The stem is twisted while the scalloped edged handle end is flat with a slightly upturned tip.
