Stamped "H&S" in two circles joined by a diamond for Syracuse, New York's Hotchkiss & Schreuder, this 8 3/4" long, 1.7 T. oz., berry spoon dates from the 1860s.

It is a fine representation of the design sensibilities and manufacturing skills of the period.

The stem is twisted while the scalloped edged handle end is flat with a slightly upturned tip. The surface of this has an engine turned background complimented with bright cutting and a wriggle work border on the backside.

Offered is a fine and rare pair of early American coin silver sugar tongs by the celebrated Philadelphia partnership of Lewis & Smith. Harvey Lewis and Joseph D. Smith worked in partnership from about 1805 to 1811, and produced some of the most finely executed and beautifully engraved silver of their era. Many examples of their excellent hollowware and flatware are extant in public collections.

Slender and delicate, this piece measures 8 3/4" long and weighs just under 1.2 T. oz.

Marked only "Coin," without a maker's or retailer's identification, the rounded handle with notched tip essentially matches Gorham's early, 1865, "Italian" pattern, and the quality of manufacture suggests such a significant maker.

This is bordered by fine wriggle work engraving and has an elegant period "EC" feathered script monogram set in the center of the plain area of the surface.

Marked "Patent 1861," "Beaded" is one of Gorham's earliest line patterns. It was produced for a considerable period of time and made in both coin and sterling silver. This example is marked "Coin," so dates no later than 1868, the year Gorham went to sterling.

It is a large, 9 1/4" long, approximately 2.5 T. oz. ice cream server.

Offered is a nice circa 1815 American coin silver teaspoon bearing one of the maker's marks used by Philadelphia silversmith Thomas Whartenby, as well as an engraved period script monogram. This piece measures about 5 7/8 inches in length and weighs about 18 grams. Condition is good overall with some surface wear and signs of normal use, but no splits or repairs. All in all a nice example of this man's output!

Offered is a rare example of the work and maker's mark of Jean-Felix LeFevre (1780 - 1813), silversmith of Philadelphia. This piece measures about 6 1/16 inches in length and weighs about 18 grams. This piece has a rubbed but legible maker's mark and a period engraved script monogram, perhaps of "CF". Offered is a good American coin silver tea spoon by Philadelphia silversmith Samuel Hutchinson, working in that city circa 1828-39. This teaspoon bears a clear, well-struck maker's mark for Hutchinson, and in this case he was probably the retailer rather than the maker as the spoon also has a floret mark used by John Curry and was probably made by Curry. Offered is a nice Philadelphia coin silver teaspoon by silversmith William Baily, Jr., bearing a specimen example of his early mark, with the Jr. being used while his father (also a silversmith) was still alive. This piece probably dates prior to 1835. This piece measures about 6 1/8 inches in length and weighs about 16 grams. Condition is fair, with some dimpling to the bowl and some ripples in the handle, but no splits or repairs. All in all a fine piece of Philadelphia silver!

This piece bears the maker's mark of Platt & Brothers, silversmiths of New York City, NY, working circa 1836-46 with a shop at 12 Maiden Lane. Offered is a nice little American coin silver master salt spoon by silversmith Albert Titcomb (1802 - 1890), who was working in Portland, ME between about 1823-35 alone and between 1835-46 in partnership with Philip Titcomb in Portland. After 1846, Albert continued to work as a silversmith, but moved his shop to Bangor and worked there until about 1880.
