Newburyport, MA circa 1800, length 5 5/8 inches, weight 1.97 Troy ounces, unusual "sickle and sheaf" drops, fine condition, marked and monogrammed as shown in enlargements.
According to Flynt & Fales, Dole was an exceptionally meticulous spoon maker who was "known to be very exact in his habits, so much so that people set their clocks by his movements about town."

This 7" long, .9 T. oz., solid silver preserve spoon has a downturned, rounded end, handle with a plain, Tipt, backside. The front is extensively bright cut engraved and engine turned in a manner that is strongly suggestive of mid 19th century Philadelphia design. Indeed, it is marked "T.C. NY circa 1790, bright cut borders with oval cartouche, elongated bowls with raised oval drops, length 8 3/4 inches, weight 3.13 Troy ounces the pair, marked and monogrammed as shown in enlargements. There is some softening to the decoration, but the bowls are largely free of tip wear and both spoons are in very good overall condition.
Gilbert's work is well collected, with a salver at the Museum of the City of New York, and a marrow spoon at the Henry Luce III Center for the Study of... Click for details

Featuring a raised ram's head at the handle end, a satyr's face and ivy leaf and berry set midway on the shank, and an expanded ivy motif on the backside heel of the bowl, Grecian originated with Henry Hebbard, New York City, and was subsequently produced by Whiting. This is an early, coin silver, example of the line marked "H.H. Patent 1862," and with the name of the retailer, "[E.S. & J.] Ettenheimer," Rochester, NY. Tracing to the mid 19th century, this pair of coin silver tongs are early production items made by Cincinnati's premier firm "Duhme & Co.," as indicated by the stamp on the inside of each arm. Possibly for use with a (pickle) caster, they are large at 6 5/8" long, and heavy at 1.7 T. oz., and combine a variety of period design elements. This is an interesting teaspoon with some British Colonial aspects, which may or may not be American coin silver, Canadian, or something else.
