This 8 1/2" long, 2.3 T. oz, pie server is marked with the company's "lion, anchor, G" emblem and "Sterling," indicating it dates post 1868.

Incorporating the shield and flanking lions rampant of the coat of arms of the Prince of Wales, along with his ostrich feathers badge, this spoon measures 6" long and weighs .9 T. oz.

It was made by Watson whose "pennant" emblem and the word "Sterling" appear on the handle backside.

A rare piece, it is doubly so for its unusual "diamond pane," i.e. faceted, bowl. Whether simply decorative or symbolic, it adds interest to this and sets it apart from other commemorative spoons.

Issued in 1875, Wendt's "Ribbon" incorporates a dense, repetitive design that seems to draw upon the Renaissance and Moorish Revival sensibilities of the period.

This example is a 7" long, 1.2 T. oz., preserve spoon.

It has an oblong bowl with a raised heel and groove in the interior, which is engraved with wriggle work and a leaf motif.

The rim has a flanged edge, and both the inner and backside surfaces retain a portion of an original gold wash.
