Offered is a rare and fine American coin silver teaspoon by Lewisburg silversmith John K. Housel. There were a number of Housels working as silversmiths and watchmakers in Pennsylvania over the course of at least two generations, and the relationships between these men are confusing and poorly documented. Offered is a great, early American coin silver teaspoon from the little-known shop of David Laverack, working in Paterson, NJ circa 1850-65. A watch paper from Laverack's shop in the collection of the American Antiquarian Society. Laverack is also listed in Kirkbride's New Jersey Business Directory for 1850. Offered is a rare early American coin silver table spoon by Lancaster, PA silversmith George Haverstick (b. 1788, d. 1824). Although silver from George's brother William is encountered fairly often, that of George and of his brother John is quite uncommon. This is especially the case with a large tablespoon like this one. Offered is a fine American coin silver teaspoon bearing the mark of Easton, Pennsylvania jeweler William Bixler, circa 1840. The spoon is marked W.BIXLER in a rectangle, and is also marked with a manufacturer's mark. William Bixler (b. 1793 - d. 1848) was the son of the famous Easton clockmaker Christian Bixler, and apprentice and then successor to his father.
