Coin silver soup ladle, John Burt Lyng, New York City (c. 1770), 13 7/16" long 3 1/2" circular bowl with unusual applied feather edge band around lip, unusual broad drop with feather edge around edges, arching downturned handle tipt on back with heavy feather edge down sides, block letter monogram "D" over "W S" on front, marked "LYNG" in serrated rectangular punch and "N YORK" in rectangular punch.

Overall and mark condition are excellent. A truly "museum quality" piece. A rare form in American silver; works well for holding letters/envelopes on a desk, or for its original use for toast.
