Offered is a fine set of four early 19th Century Scottish silver teaspoons by David Manson, who worked in Dundee between 1809 and 1818, and then in Jamaica briefly before his death there on July 2, 1821. These spoons would likely date to Manson's Dundee period, given the inclusion of the pot/vase of flowers pseudo-hallmark (the Dundee city arms) with his maker's mark on these spoons. Bartlett, who was working in West Chester, PA circa 1834-40 and probably for a number of years before and after that date span. Offered is a fantastic piece of early Maine silver, by noted silversmith Charles Farley (born 1791 in Ipswich, Massachusetts, died 1877 in Portland, Maine), and bearing a good clear strike of his maker's mark to the base. This beaker is engraved EWC in period script, and the engraving shows little wear. This piece measures about 3 3/8 inches high, and weighs a substantial 163 grams. Dating from the first part of the 20th century, this item was made by Reed & Barton, whose early "eagle, R, lion" emblem appears on the lip of the bottom half, along with model number "709" and "Sterling."

A tea ball, it is egg or acorn shaped, 1 3/4" tall and 1 1/4" wide, with a 4" long chain attached to a 1" diameter ring. It weighs approximately .6 T. oz.

A pattern entered into the 1892 costing books of the Gorham Company, Fifteenth Century was offered in a limited number of pieces, including this 8 1/2" long, weighty at 3.0 T. oz., (berry) serving spoon.

Singular in design, it appears to take its inspiration from early Scandinavian motifs.
