Dating from 1866 according to the date engraved on the sidewall below the name "C.E. Mathews.", this coin silver mustard pot was made by Gorham. That company's standing lion, anchor, G mark appears on the underside of the base, along with the model number "510."

Dating from 1861, "Beaded" is one of Gorham's earliest line patterns and was produced for a considerable period of time. As such, it was made in both coin and sterling silver. This example is the latter.

It is an exceptionally large, 12" long, and heavy, nearly 4.5 T. oz., fish slice. At this scale, the shank is thick and the beading high relief and tactile.

Not formally named, the pattern on these three pieces is an "Oak and Acorn" motif that was produced by Boston's Farrington & Hunnewell. It dates c. 1865.

It is an engaging, double die struck (meaning it appears on both sides of the handle) design, singular for its time, and considerably more detailed than the common patterns of the period, such as "Olive" and its variants.

Durgin's "Marechal Niel" offers a high relief, multi-dimensional portraiture of the rose which is its namesake. It is double die struck, meaning the design appears on both the front and back sides of the handle.

This group of eight matching, 5 13/16" long, just over 6.9 T. oz. the lot, teaspoons are without monograms or removals and are in immaculate condition, showing no wear whatsoever. Philadelphia circa 1790, a fine, large and massive piece, length 14 inches, length of bowl five inches, weight 6.87 Troy ounces, marked JA struck twice in cut cornered rectangle. There is a minor fill at the edge of the bowl (please see fifth photo) and some scratches on reverse, but excellent overall condition.

This spoon is not monogrammed and does not appear ever to have been, which is most unusual for early American silver.

Measuring 6 1/8" long and weighing over 1.1 T. oz., this sterling silver sugar spoon has a substantial feel to it. The bowl is generously proportioned at 2 1/4" long and 1 5/8" at the widest. The pattern is "Fiorito" which is an expressive Art Nouveau design made by Shiebler. This is a high quality example without a monogram or removal. These two matched master salts are strikingly attractive, stylistically emblematic of their period, and in immaculate condition. Made by Gorham, perhaps the standard bearer firm for such items, each of them is marked with a lion, anchor, G, the word "Sterling," the model number "1320," and the date letter "L" for 1879.
