This lot consists of three, coin silver teaspoons dating from the late 18th to the early 19th centuries. Two are are by Philadelphia's Joseph Lownes, 1758-1820.

One of the Lownes is 5 3/8" long, just under .5 T. oz., has a slight tip end on the reverse, an exposed drop, and a feathered script "EM" monogram. The condition is good. There is polishing wear and there are light surface scratches, but it retains a well-shaped bowl.

Dating c. 1865, these seven, coin silver, "Tipt End" teaspoons fall into two groups.

Three were made by Gorham, marked lion, anchor, G, and have feathered script "SC" monograms. They measure 6" long each, while the set weighs approximately 1.8 T. oz. They carry the retail name "Rhoads," for Charles G. Rhoads of Lancaster, Pennsylvannia.

The second set is also coin silver, and comprised of four spoons, 5 7/16" long, approximately 2.3 T. oz. collectively, with feathered script "SST"... Click for details

Fully marked as made by Dublin silversmith James Brady in 1826, this sterling silver mustard spoon (similar to a large American master salt spoon) measures 4 1/4" long and weighs just over .4 T. oz. The ovoid bowl is 1 1/8" wide, 7/8" back to front, and 1/4" deep.

It has a reverse tipt end and an exposed drop on the heel of the bowl, and is without a monogram or crest or removal of same.

Portraying a bust on the handle and a mounted image for the French King and Roman Catholic Saint for whom the City of Saint Louis was named, this spoon was retailed by that city's premier jeweler, "Mermod-Jaccard & King Co." (1905 forward), as marked on the reverse, along with the word "Sterling."

Old examples of "Fairfax" made by Durgin rather than Gorham, these pieces are marked "D" and "Sterling," and in the instance of the ladle "Pat'd." as well.

One is a lemon fork that measures 4 15/16" long and weighs approximately .6 T. oz. The second is a 5" long, .8 T. oz. cream ladle.

Neither piece has a monogram or removal, and both are in mint condition with brilliant, hand polished finishes.

While essentially matching, employing the same "Kings" pattern and engraved with the same standing lion crest, these two sterling silver spoons show subtle variations and were produced by different makers.

They are both 5 5/8" long and heavy, with one weighing just under 1.2 T. oz. and the other just over 1.3 T. oz.

The hallmarks indicate the first spoon was made by Soloman Royes in 1821, while the second was was made by William Eaton in 1829, both of London. Clearly the later one was... Click for details

Easily fitting into a pocket or purse, small folding knives were popular 19th century items dating from the 1840's or so forward. Often mangled or otherwise damaged, this mid century, single blade example by New York's Albert Coles is in excellent condition.

It measures 3" long when closed and 5 1/2" when open. The handle has a lined and scrolled border.
