The pattern "Fleury" is comprised of delicate, but fully elaborated, wild rose blossoms, leaves, and stems, entwined with acanthus leaf and scroll detailing, all interpreted in a French manner as would be expected from the pattern name.

It dates from the late Art Nouveau period, as indicated by the "Pat. 1907" imprinted on the back of the handle. Other marks include Gorham's "lion, anchor, G," emblem, and "Sterling."

This can be established by the manufacturer's marks of Taylor & Lawrie of Philadelphia, who made this spoon and who were in business between 1837 and 1857. Offered is a good pair of early American coin silver teaspoons by Robert W. Choate, who worked in Philadelphia circa 1829-38, and then in Louisville at some point thereafter, through at least 1852. Vintage Wallace silver plate flower frog. This lovely flower frog is in the from of a blooming flower with two layers of petals and a center bud. This is incredibly heavy and beautiful flower. In mint condition and its original intent is to be used as a flower frog flower holder. The extreme center could accomidate a candle also. While this 4 3/4" long, heavy at 1.4 T. oz., bon bon is akin to parallel items produced by such large manufacturers as Gorham and Whiting, this comes from an unexpected source, namely Roger Williams Silver Company of Providence, Rhode Island.

Offered is a good American coin silver cream ladle by the Boston partnership of Jabez Baldwin and John Belknap Jones, working circa 1816-20. This piece bears a rubbed but legible maker's mark and a period script engraved monogram. It measures a bit under six inches in length and weighs about 22 grams. Condition is good considering this piece is almost 200 years old; there are a few small dings and bumps, but no splits or repairs. All in all a nice useful piece of early Boston coin silver!

Offered is an American coin silver teaspoon by Robert and William Wilson of Philadelphia, circa 1825-45, stamped CLINTON CO. to denote that this piece was used as a prize at an agricultural fair in Clinton County (not sure which state). I've had two other pieces so stamped, and eBay recently had a beaker with the same stamp; all were made by R. & W. Wilson. One of numerous twisted handle patterns that Whiting produced c. 1880, this fork and spoon pair have a spiral lower section and a larger, blocky, square twist upper end.

While a salad set, either piece could be used independently.

They are substantially sized items, with the fork measuring 9 1/4" long and weighing 1.9 T. oz., and the spoon 9 1/8" long and 2.2 T. oz.

Uncommon forms, bouillon ladles are typically larger than gravy but noticeably smaller than soups. They also have double spouts in the manner of punch ladles, which they could double for in some instances.

All of this is reflected in this example made by the Sterling Silver Manufacturing Company (later Saart) of Providence, Rhode Island.
