height 7 3/8 inches, 3 1/4 inches across base, weight 11.75 Troy ounces, no monogram. Please note that these are not weighted.

There are some condition issues. One (on left in photo) has some dents in the side panels; the bobeche on the other is a bit wavy. Also, though they bear the same model number, one is decorated with beading and the other with "rope."

Keep in mind that when your table is lit with candle light, the guests will simply say "what lovely pair of candlesticks!"

height 7 1/2 inches, width across handle 5 1/4 inches, weight 18 Troy ounces, capacity one quart, marked as shown in fourth enlargement. A classic, organic shape made famous by the Jensen Silversmithy (and featured on the dj of Janet Drucker's popular book), this design was conceived by Rohde in 1925, but did not enter production until 1930 because it was considered too radical.

This lovely example is entirely hand wrought, and dates from 1948. There have been a few dents removed from... Click for details

One could spend a substantial number of hours searching through design patents looking for the original name of this pattern, and come up empty handed. Then again, one might find an exact date, and "design for the handle of a spoon." Either way, we find this early die struck... Click for details

We've checked the big bad auction site, and can't find anything similar there for under one hundred mighty dollars, so if you're a reseller, there's a good chance that you'll be able to make enough on this to buy a minor league sports team, or at the very least a small yacht.

Issued in 1880, Wood & Hughes' "Humboldt" pattern incorporates Moorish design elements, as popular in the period, laid out on an angular handle.

Produced at a time when the company was enjoying great prosperity and was especially productive, it exhibits sophisticated design and high quality execution. This is especially evident in the plum-shaped, notched edge, bowl that is intricately engraved and finished with a matte gold surface on the interior and bright gold on the exterior.

Offered is a lovely and quite early George II English sterling silver basting spoon or hash spoon by noted specialist spoonmaker Philip Roker II, working from the 1720s on. The maker's mark on this spoon was registered in August 1720 and used at least through 1735, and this piece is consistent with similar hash spoons with date letters in the 1730s. Interestingly, the marks accompanying Roker's maker's marks are pseudo-hallmarks, apparently occasionally used by Roker to give the appearance of... Click for details
