Gorham Eva Sterling Master Butter Knife
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
892c $ 30
This sterling silver master butter knife is 6 3/8" long and light to moderate weight. The pattern is Eva, which is an early (1870) Gorham design. There is something of a Moorish and/or Renaissance Revival sense to it, and that would be appropriate to the period. There is a script "EWM" monogram on the front, while the backside is entirely plain. The blade is rather singularly fashioned, with notched shoulders, a notch on the upper edge, and a matte surface. The piece is in flawless conditio... Click for details

Durgin Old Standish Sterling Preserve Spoon
Silver
Old Friends
890c $ 55
Durgin's turn of the 20th century Old Standish is an understated design, with a double lined edge and a tipt end. It employs a stylized shell bowl which, while more decorative than the pattern itself, would not out command other elements of a table setting. This piece is a 7" long. rather heavy 1.4 T. oz., preserve or jelly spoon. It is in flawless condition and is without a monogram or removal. Marks are the Durgin "D," the word Sterling, and the name of the retailer, Boston's Shreve, Crump... Click for details

Elegant Quality Silver Plate Water Pitcher / Hallmarks
Silver: Plate
Abuzz Antiques and Collectibles
$40.00 plus shipping
This is a fabulous quality, heavy, silverplate Victorian style water pitcher with hallmarks. It has wonderful scroll work and 4 claw feet. It has the lip that hold the ice inside while you pour the water. It is large, measuring 10.25 inches when the handle is attached, and 6.75 inches across the rim. It is damaged and needs the handle re-attached. I don't have the skills to do that. I do not know the age, but I think it is old, I don't know how to identify the hallmarks.

Old Friends
880c $ 60
This coin silver master butter knife is a large 8" long, and is weighty at 1.6 T. oz. The maker was William Forbes, a prominent mid 19th century NYC maker. This is a simple but elegant piece. Towle 28 (Twist) Sterling Piccalilli or Chow Chow Spoon
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
873c $ 30
At first impression this 5 9/16" long piece in Towle's 28 aka 128 (Twist) appears to be a citrus spoon. The bowl, however, is narrower, deeper and more sharply tapered than a citrus, suggesting this is a condiment spoon for piccalilli or chow. The attribution is not positive, but certainly suitable. There is a script "JH" monogram on the backside of the bowl, along with the Towle emblem, the number 28, and the word Sterling. The condition is flawless.
