Offered is an unusually fine and well-preserved example of noted Philadelphia, PA and Charleston, South Carolina silversmith Jean-Baptiste Dumoutet, working in Philadelphia from 1793-1813 and with a branch shop in Charleston from 1802-1813. He also worked seasonally in Trenton, NJ from 1797-99 to avoid the yellow fever outbreaks in Philadelphia during those years. Offered is a very nice 1790s Philadelphia coin silver teaspoon by silversmith Matthias Lamar (fl. 1785-1809), of whom relatively little is known. This spoon could use a polish, but is very nicely decorated all along the stem with lovely engraving and also has period block initials of SW. To the reverse is a full-name mark of LAMAR, given to Matthias by Catherine Hollan in her book "Philadelphia Silversmiths." This spoon measures about 5 1/8 inches in length and weighs about 8 grams. Offered is a nice American coin silver fork in the Queen's pattern or a variant thereof, by noted maker William Ingalls Tenney (1806-1848), probably dating to the 1820s before he went into partnership in 1828. This piece measures about 6 5/8 inches in length and weighs a very good 36 grams. This fork has a well-struck maker's mark and a partly legible address mark for Tenney's Broadway shop in New York City. Offered is a good 1790s American coin silver teaspoon by noted silversmith Thomas Arnold (1735-1828), who worked in Newport circa 1760-1817. Mr. Arnold had the interesting habit of marking many of his spoons, like this one, with both his initials mark and his full name mark. He was also interesting in that he was a prominent citizen of Newport. These six matching, heavy at 7.6 T. oz. the group, spoons all measure 7 1/8" long and are marked "John A. Cole" along with a "bust, lion, D" hallmark that John McGrew in Manufacturers' Marks on American Coin Silver attributes to an unknown New York City manufacturer.

Born in 1802, Albert Comstock Benedict was a prominent New York City silversmith during the first half of the 19th century and beyond. He worked in partnership with Egbert Scudder from 1828-36.

His mark, which appears on all four of these lengthy, 6 1/4", 2.3 T. oz. the group, matching teaspoons is distinct. It reads, "A.C. Benedict" over "28 Bowery, N.Y."

Bearing two telling marks, "S. Kirk & Son" used by the renowned Baltimore firm 1846-51, and "10.15" for the distinctive regional silver standard designation which is slightly less than coin, this place spoon measures 7" long and weighs 1.06 T. oz. (33 grams).

A handsome and well crafted piece, it has a Fiddle shaped handle with a subtle Tipt backside. The bowl has an exposed drop, and high, pointed and beveled, fins at the join with the handle.

Listed as a jeweler and watchmaker (although Flynt and Fales in the Heritage Foundation Collection of Silver note that "silverwork has been attributed to him") who engaged in several partnerships beginning in 1820, as well as operating singly 1825-34, Thomas Aspinwall Davis, b. 1798, was a Boston citizen of note. The name Parisen is associated with four noteworthy 18th to early 19th century New York City silversmiths and jewelers. The senior one was Otto Paul DeParisen, born in Berlin, Germany in 1735, and the others are his three sons, Philip 1761-1822, David 1765-?, and Otto W., 1770-?

Dating from the mid 19th century, these two matching master salt spoons each measure 3 3/4" long and weigh .6 T. oz. combined.

An Oval Thread pattern, they are stamped "Squire & Lander" for the New York City jeweler, along with the "star, lion, D" manufacturing mark of John L. Westervelt, Newburgh, New York.

The rounded bowls measure 1" by 3/4" and are moderately deep at 1/4".

Offered is an interesting circa 1780 American coin silver spoon, perhaps by John Burger, or perhaps by John Benjamin (though it seems a few years too late for him), or another maker. The long drop on this spoon most resembles those on John Benjamin spoons (Burger's drops tend to be shorter and more pointed or cone shaped), adding to the mystery. Offered is a very nice table knife from France and probably the mid-19th Century - the knot-type pattern mixes well with a lot of coin silver patterns. This piece is marked with the 950 standard mark (Minerva head in a punch with clipped corners) adopted after 1838. There appears to be no maker's mark. This knife measures about 8 1/8 inches. Measuring 5 5/8" long and weighing .8 T. oz., this sugar spoon was produced by Unger Brothers, Newark, New Jersey, whose entwined "UB" surrounded by "Sterling" and "925 Fine" mark appears on the backside.

This set of six, 6" long, 3.0 T. oz. the group, coin silver spoons are all marked "Root & Chaffee" along with a right facing "eagle" emblem.

William Root and Frederick Chaffee were located in Pittsfield, in the Berkshires region of Western Massachusetts, and were in partnership 1830-1849.

These have Fiddle handles with Tipt backs and are all engraved in fancy, feathered script, lettering, "E T Boyd" on the fronts.
