Coin silver beaker, C.B. DeReimer & Co., Auburn, NY
Silver: Coin Silver: Hollowware
Past Pleasures Antiques
7937 $695.00
This is an unusual beaker. I would call it a Julep Cup except for it's size, which is 2 3/4" tall and 2 3/4" in diameter, perfect for sipping a single malt scotch. It's in excellent condition with 2 monograms and the date 1839. There is no indication of a handle removal or being cut down, the monogram is between the top & bottom. "New York Silversmiths" has DeReimer in Auburn, NY Ca 1831 and moving to Alton, IL later. Possibly this was sold when he was in Illinois. It is marked "CB DeReime... Click for details

Sterling Taperstick, London c.1740
Silver: Sterling
Albion Antiques Ltd
F1J93 $2500
These early tapersticks have become extremely rare. This one is fully hallmarked underneath but the Date Letter is unreadable as it was poorly struck. The cartouches of the marks are c.1740 and the maker, Richard Gosling, started work in 1739, so it is, unquestionably, of that period. It is in very fine condition with a nice crest. 4" high, 2.5" wide at the base.
