New York circa 1837, length 6 3/4 inches, some slight tine and pattern wear but fine overall condition, monogrammed "W.B. Corning" (script, obverse). For those who are genealogically inclined the Corning name will no doubt provide countless hours of pleasure, and Mr. Ginochio himself must certainly be of interest, as an early Italian immigrant.

Coin silver teaspoon with downturned spatulate handle and block monogram (S * P) by Daniel Dupuy (1719-1807) of Philadelphia. There is a small amount of tip wear on the bowl; it has a modeled drop and a well-worn shell on the back of the bowl. Otherwise, condition is good. Length is 5 inches.

A coin silver julep made by Duhme & Co of Cincinnati, Ohio. Of conventional form with moldings to the lip and foot. The spin marks visible on the base was the result of removing the excess solder after construction.
Very good condition. No monogram.
Dimensions: Height 3.1", base diameter 2.5", aperture diameter 2.8".

Fine salt spoon or ladle with shell bowl, pointed-end handle and feathered script monogram (MM) made by Thomas Arnold of Newport, Rhode Island, c. 1790. This is a scarce item from this desirable silversmith. The mark is identical to mark "b" on page 35 of Marks of American Silversmiths in the Ineson-Bissell Collection by Louise Conway Belden. Length is 4 1/4 inches. Condition is excellent.

A traditional coin silver julep cup with molding round the lip and foot and a barely visible seam from the inside. The inscription is interesting but mysterious. Made by S.Kirk and Son, Baltimore,and stamped with the 10.15 mark. Marks, pictured, on the base which were used during the period 1846-61.
Very good condition and patina.
Dimensions: Height 3.5", base diameter 2.6", aperture diameter 2.9".

A good early coin silver ladle by W. Mitchell, Jr, of Richmond, Virginia, c.1830. Although he was involved in a few partnerships he appears to have worked on his own between the years 1827 and 1845, during which period this ladle was made. In very good condition with a nice warm patina.
No monogram or erasure. Just one small ding in the bowl.

This coin silver dessert or place spoon is 7 3/8" long. It has an interesting double provenance. First, it is stamped "Libby" and "Oppo. Milk St." Neither Flynt & Fales nor Ensko document this level of detail for Boston's Jacob G. L. Libby, so this mark holds archival value. Secondly, the feathered script inscription on the front reads, "A.B.F to Georgiana Andrews." Libby's working dates are 1820-46. These coin knives are 7 1/2" and in usable condition. One has been repaired where the handle & blade meet and there are numerous small dents on the handles. This denting is normal on hollow handled knives of this age. Over 150 years the resin that fills the hollow handle shrinks and the thin silver dents when put in a drawer. They are hard to find in any condition. They are made by Albert Coles and so marked. Ca 1850/60.

In the graceful form and decoration associated with the Batemans comes this very elegant tea caddy made by Peter and Anne Bateman in 1797. In wonderful condition apart from just a couple of minor dings. The engraving is still sharp and crisp, accentuated by the warm patina.
Fully hallmarked on the body and cover, as pictured.

Fine pair of coin silver teaspoons by Edward Lang (1742-1830) of Salem, Massachusetts, who worked as a silversmith from 1768 to 1793 when he became a schoolmaster. These spoons have a downturned spatulate handle with tipt back. This form and the block monogram would indicate a date about 1780. There is a nice rounded drop and a nine-lobed shell in particularly good condition. American coin silver fiddle-handled spoon marked B.B. & K for Bigelow Bros. & Kennard, Boston, dating from about 1840. The spoon has the name "Ann" engraved on the back. The handle is the very slightest bit wavy and there are some tiny pinpoint impressions on the front of the handle which might be from a child's teeth. Length is 3 1/8 inches.

It bears the mark illustrated on page 131 of Marks of American Silversmiths in the Ineson-Bissell Collection by Louise Conway Belden. The spoon has a block monogram "M B". The bowl has three fixable dings. It has a nice modeled drop and a somewhat worn shell. Length is 4 5/8 inches.
