George II Irish Sterling Sugar Bowl, c.1740
Silver: Sterling: Hollowware
Albion Antiques Ltd
KG2J14 SOLD
A good early Irish three-footed sugar bowl in extremely good condition. No damage or repairs, whatsoever. Good detail to the decoration without excessive wear. There is no date letter which is not that unusual with early Irish silver but the shapes of the Harp and Britannia marks date this piece at about 1740. These two marks are quite clear though the maker's mark needs some imagination, it is a J?, most probably John Moore, not only did he work around that time, but his mark has the intersecti... Acquired from source that says it came from family that also had a Baltimore beaker. Also included in this lot: a pair of pointed end teaspoons with raised, pointed-arch drops (say 1800-1810), one teaspoon having the same J:B mark; the family source of these spoons had much silver from Baltimore and Philadelphia. Southern Coin Silver Pitcher, Hyde & Goodrich, N.O, LA

KG3J32 SOLD
Apart from being a pitcher I am not sure what it was used to serve, something hot obviously. It has insulators in the handles and an air-hole in the lid. Traditional Southern form with the squat baluster body and large spout. Fairly plain apart from the frieze on the foot, the gadrooned rim and two scroll and floral decorated cartouches, one of which bears a 3-letter monogram: a scrolling THL. Besides a couple of dings in the gadrooned rim it is in remarkable condition for its age, about 1850, w... Click for details
