XXL George III Helmet-shaped Sterling Cream Jug.
Silver: Coin Silver: 18th and Early 19th Century
Albion Antiques Ltd
UKD3 $ 1950
This must be pretty unique, as I have never even seen a creamer, an English one that is, as large as this in my 25 years as an antique dealer. It was probably made for the US market, or custom made. It is in very good condition though the marks are a bit thin, though readable. Fully hallmarked on the side for William Sumner, London 1790. 8.25" tall.

Sterling Taperstick, London c.1740
Silver: Sterling
Albion Antiques Ltd
F1J93 $2500
These early tapersticks have become extremely rare. This one is fully hallmarked underneath but the Date Letter is unreadable as it was poorly struck. The cartouches of the marks are c.1740 and the maker, Richard Gosling, started work in 1739, so it is, unquestionably, of that period. It is in very fine condition with a nice crest. 4" high, 2.5" wide at the base.

The bowl is long and slender and the handle is somewhat different in form. It is marked "S.Coleman" for Samuel Coleman of Trenton, New Jersey. (Belden pg 118). Ca 1800/1810. A very nice spoon.

coffin end coin silver sauce ladle, Dickinson,Syracuse
Silver: Coin Silver: 18th and Early 19th Century
Past Pleasures Antiques
7246 $125.00
I put this 6 3/8" sauce ladle in the early 19th century catagory because coffin ends were usually made then. However, I believe this piece was made in the 1840's, probably custom made, to go with some already existing coffin end spoons. It is marked "P. Dickinson" in a serrated rectangle. See "Belden" page 135 "other marks known". The condition is excellent, no dents or breaks. Ca 1845.

American coin silver teaspoons, John McFarlane, Boston
Silver: Coin Silver: 18th and Early 19th Century
Past Pleasures Antiques
10180 $60.00 pair
These nice little spoons(5 3/8") are in excellent condition. I consider these coffin ends. They have interesting sharp shoulders similar to the English style (I suppose that has to do with a McFarlane making them). They are marked "JM'F". John McFarlane, Boston. Ca 1805/10.

American coin silver coffin end teaspoons, Unmarked
Silver: Coin Silver: 18th and Early 19th Century
Past Pleasures Antiques
10236 $60.00 set of 3
These are 5 1/4" and pure coffin ends with the coffin shape at both sides of the handle. There are a few bowl dents and some slight bowl wear and have some handle creases. Unfortunately they are unmarked. (after all this I'm sure no one wants them, but I like them). Ca 1805.

American coin silver teaspoons, William Moulton, IV, Newburyport
Silver: Coin Silver: 18th and Early 19th Century
Past Pleasures Antiques
10181 $90.00 set of 3
I consider these 5 3/8" teaspoons coffin ends, although they don't have the corner cuts. They are squared as most coffin ends are. One bowl has a wrinkle in it and another has some dents, but the tip wear is minimal. I believe the "W. Moulton" mark to be that of William Moulton IV. Ca 1810.

American coin silver serving spoon, "Kings", Taylor & Hinsdale, NY, NY
Silver: Coin Silver: 18th and Early 19th Century
Past Pleasures Antiques
7586 $150.00
My favorite of the early patterns, this single struck "Kings" serving spoon is 8 3/4". It has no pattern on the back. However, it has an eleven lobe shell on the back of the bowl. The condition is excellent with no dents and a crisp pattern. Even the shell on the back of the bowl is good. It is marked "T&H" with pseudo hallmarks for Taylor & Hinsdale. Ca 1815/20.
