The pair of tongs are 6 1/4" long. They are slender and have one trident end and one flat end. This form has been identified in an article in Silver Magazine as for pickles. The pattern is Gorham's Medallion. They are stamped with the Gorham lion, anchor, G and the words Pat. 1864. As there is no standard mark, they are presumably coin. These six, matching, coin silver teaspoons are stamped "Clark, Sawyer & Co.," (Philadelphia?) and "Coin." The mark is undoubtedly that of the retailer, as the pattern of these is Knowles' (Providence, RI) "Antique," circa 1870. The design is actually a tipt end with a slight diamond drop surrounded by scrolls. The end effect is reminiscent of a fleur-de-lis. These all have a script "E.F.W." monogram. This 8 5/8" long, early 19th century, coin silver "Sheaf of Wheat" tablespoon is stamped "G. Eoff," for Garret Eoff of New York. The marked is accompanied by an incused eagle and the letter C. There is a feathered script "AB" monogram, and a shell-back bowl. This is a particularly fine example, with a strikingly clear and large figure. The finish is pleasing, and the shape is flawless. The bowl retains good form, is free of tip wear, and has a smooth interior.

Downturned fiddle handle, c1840 - pointed shoulders, script mono FR on front; 5-3/8" long. Mark, in serrated rectangle as shown in Cutten, is lightly struck but all letters are there and readable. Bowl has a few shallow teething marks, but otherwise spoon is fine.

This scroll pattern is a signature mid 19th design of Boston's Farrington & Hunnewell. This is 7" long, heavy, 1.3 T. oz., spoon is variously identified as a place, dessert or oval soup. It is a quality example in flawless condition. It has a feathered script "HBS" monogram on the reverse. There is no polishing wear. The bowl is well shaped and free of dings or dents. The finish is well patinated. The reverse is stamped ".F&H." Two additional matching spoons are available.

2 heavy coin silver serving spoons about 8 1/2 inches long in a modified Kings pattern with scallop shell concave on front and convex on reverse of handle, shell drop. L. Veron & co, Philadelphia, ca. 1828-1841. One is in very good condition, the other has a bowl with a slight deformity and the handle has been slightly bent. Marked "L.VERON. & Co." in rectangle. Engraved "R" in script on the front of the handle. The engraving is faint on the best one and barely visible on the lesser one.

Coin silver dessert fork in the fiddle thread pattern, 6 3/4 inches long. Tines worn. Engrave "FJK" on reverse in copperplate script. Marked "E.A.TYLER.NEW ORLEANS" in rectangle. Tyler was in business in New Orleans, Louisiana from 1838 to 1879. This fork is probably from the 1845 to 1861 period.

This is either the mark of Samuel Wilmot of New Haven, CT, Georgetown, SC (1824-37) and Charleston, SC (1838-41) or of Samuel Wimot of Savannah, GA c. 1850-56. It could be either. It looks very mcuh like the mark attributed by Belden to the Charleston Wilmot. Probably made in NYC and sold in SC or GA. Coin silver serving spoon by John Adam of Alexandria, Virginia, ca. 1801-1846. Fiddle handle is ribbed on reverse. Engraved "GSH" in copperplate script. Marked "I [bullet] ADAM." in rectangle. Broad drop. Handle appears to have been slightly bent where fiddle meets stem, but you have to look closely to see this minor defect. Only the slightest bowl wear on the left. In very good condition.

This pair of 8 1/8" long place spoons were made by Philo Gilbert (New York) and retailed by Gaven Spence of Newark, New Jersey. The pattern is an olive variant marked "Patent 1859" and with Gilbert's pseudo hallmark. They are heavy, with the two weighing a combined 3.3 T. oz. Each one has a feathered script "PMS" monogram. The condition is excellent. There is no polishing wear, and the bowls are free of dings, dents, burrs, or tip wear. The finishes are lustrous.

This 8 1/2" long, 1.9 T. oz., coin silver spoon appears to be a true serving piece rather than a place or tablespoon. The 3" by 1 3/4" bowl is over-sized in comparison to similar length pieces. The retailer's stamp on this is Boston's Gray and Libby, but a likely maker is Durgin, who produced a "Bow" design. Other marks are Patent and Pure Coin. There is an Old English "W" monogram.
