Silver: Coin Silver: Serving Pieces
Old Friends
203A $ 275
At 10 1/8" long and nearly 3 T. oz., this mid 19th century serving item is massive by any measure. It is marked Warner and Coin on the reverse. The name Warner is most associated with Baltimore, but this may have a Philadelphia origin. Certainly the design suggests this, as the shape of the handle is quite similar to Faber items. The intricate bright work in the bowl is also suggestive of Philadelphia, several of whose makers excelled in this kind of work. The serving portion is 3 7/8" by ... Click for details

David Vinton, Providence - brightcut dessert spoon

North Hill Antiques
155 $300
Pointed-end handle, c1795 - slashed molded drop, block mono P over W L in cartouche on front; 7-3/4" in length. That's rather long for an 18thC dessert spoon, but the size and shape of the bowl gives its purpose away. The more important aspect of this piece is the mark -- D.VINTON (see pic). Coin Silver dessert knives, A Coles for Jaccard, St Lou
Silver: Coin Silver: Flatware
Past Pleasures Antiques
8203 $260.00 set of 4
These 7 1/2" tea knives are in fair condition. The silver blades are excellent and there are no repairs or cracks. The handles have many small dents. The reason for this is that the interior of the handle is a resin which shrinks over 150 years leaving a space between the silver & the resin. Each time they are dropped in a drawer, they dent. However, these are so hard to find we overlook some flaws. These were made by Albert Coles and retailed by E. Jaccard of St. Louis. Ca 1855.
