This large serving spoon is 9 1/4" and in nice condition. There is no bowl wear or repairs and only a few pin prick dents. It is marked Curtiss & Stiles of Woodbury, Connecticut, Ca 1840.

Baltimore MD circa 1790, round downturned end with just a hint of a rear midrib extending 3 inches down the handle, unusual double arched drop, length 8 3/4 inches, some tip wear as shown but good overall condition, monogrammed "H" in period script. How certain are we of this attribution? Well, if it's American then the spoon is most certainly Dowig...

an original set at that-- all with date letter "F", S.K. in rectangle, 11 over 12, and city mark. Length 8 3/8 inches, monogrammed "M" (reverse, period script, see third photo) most have some tine wear and the color is a bit off but the pattern is in very good condition and my word are these rare!!! Our only American assay office was located in the city of Baltimore, circa 1814-30, so here is your chance to own a small but significant bit of Americana which can truly be said to bear hallmar... Coffin end, incised arch drop. Flynt & Fales page 143 attributes a similar mark to Nathan Adams of Wiscasset, ME. The best known silversmith using an NA mark is Nathaniel Austin of Boston (but this is not one of his published marks). Length 5-1/8". The monogram is a lengthwise sprigged script PG. Overall and mark condition are excellent.

Length 13-3/4". Bowl width 4-1/4"; front to back 3-1/4". Weight 6.4 troy ounces. The lengthwise script monogram is AB. Overall and mark condition are excellent.

in rectangle. Is this Joseph Carman? John Chalmers? Joseph Carpenter? Am I failing to Inspire Confidence? Truly, as with many initial marks, the answer may never be known. Length 5 7/8 inches, monogrammed "M" in period script, the bowls are a bit chewed up (see fourth photo) and there is some tip wear-- priced accordingly.
