Gorham Fiddle Thread Pure Coin Tea Fork
Silver: Coin Silver: Flatware: Early Patterns
Old Friends
692a SOLD
This coin silver fork is unusual in several ways. First, it is a mid 19th century example of a pattern, Fiddle Thread, that while common, was not produced in quantity by Gorham which manufactured this. Secondly it is stamped "Gorham & Co." which was a short-lived mark. Lastly it is imprinted "Pure Coin." This term was largely indigenous to New England, but again infrequently used by Gorham. The piece itself is 7 1/8" long and heavy. It was likely a tea fork, but might have been used as a l... Click for details

632a $ 75 set
These six, matching, coin silver teaspoons are stamped "Clark, Sawyer & Co.," (Philadelphia?) and "Coin." The design is actually a tipt end with a slight diamond drop surrounded by scrolls. The end effect is reminiscent of a fleur-de-lis. These all have a script "E.F.W." monogram. The condition is outstanding. The bowls are well-shaped, free of tip wear, and without din... Click for details

Heavy coin silver sugar shell in a beautiful pattern I have not been able to identify by Newell Harding Co., Boston, c. 1851-1870. 6 3/4 inches long, modified shell bowl. Engraved "Sarah" in script on the reverse. Marks COIN and N HARDING CO. incuse. A good, heavy piece. Like new.
