Repousse Coin Silver Water Pitcher, by A.E.Warner, c.18
Silver: Coin Silver: Hollowware
Albion Antiques Ltd
SGS14 SOLD
Although repousse decoration is more frequently associated with Kirk, Stieff and Schofield, among others, Warner was undoubtedly one of the exponents in popularizing the style. Nice graceful lines, fully repousse in the 'Baltimore style' but with the added feature of a wide splash of leaves at the base of the handle, pictured. Very good condition. Marked Warner, 11-2.

Coin Silver Gravy Boat, c.1825
Silver: Coin Silver: Hollowware
Albion Antiques Ltd
SGN26 $1250
A fine coin silver gravy boat of good form on three shell-topped hoof feet, beaded rim and leaf-capped scroll handle. It looks earlier than I have dated it but the closest I have come to identifying the maker's mark, S.W & Co, is a reference in Belden to Samuel White of NY, NY, whose mark is S.W, being in a partnership forming a company S.White & Co between 1820-25. Kovel's lists S.White &Co as NY, NY. C.1830, without a maker's mark for the company either.
In wonderful condition, nice patina, n... Click for details

Marked three times on bottom. This J:B mark is attributed tentatively by Yale to J. Bard of PA. Winterthur attributes it to Joseph Barton of Stockbridge, MA and Utica, NY. Acquired from source that says it came from family that also had a Baltimore beaker. Also included in this lot: a pair of pointed end teaspoons with raised, pointed-arch drops (say 1800-1810), one teaspoon having the same J:B mark; the family source of these spoons had much silver from Baltimore and Philadelphia. coin silver salver, Welles & Gelston, Boston circa 1820
Silver: Coin Silver: Hollowware
Bruce Cherner Antique Silver
1112 $1100.00
Let's stop right there. I don't for a moment believe that this item was made in Boston. Most everything about it: the floral four toed feet, chased foliage with "ring matted" background (see Forbes, plate 41), silversmith's center punch on the top (see fourth photo), the overall heft and construction suggest that it was made in Canton province. Can I prove it? No, not yet at any rate. Diameter, 8.5"; height .75"; weight 14.0 oz. Troy; a few minor scratches and dents but excellent overa... Click for details
