American Arts & Crafts sterling beaker, Franklin Porter
Silver : Sterling : Hollowware
Bruce Cherner Antique Silver
2457 Sold
Danvers, MA circa 1930, height 3 1/4; top diameter 2 5/8 inches, weight 5.75 Troy ounces, no monogram, some very light scratches but excellent overall condition.
Though his work is ardently sought by collectors, Porter's output was not always of consistent quality. His soldering was occasionally sloppy, and his hammer marks were at times random. Here, the seams are nearly invisible, and the art peen hammering (please see third enlargement) is laid out masterfully along the vertical axis.... Click for details

Bruce Cherner Antique Silver
2451 $395.00
Allow me to begin by saying all the things it's not: 1) Ashbee 2) Knox 3) Liberty 4) perfect.

Blackinton "Chippendale" Large & Heavy Sterling Silver Porringer
Silver : Sterling : Hollowware
Old Friends
4439f $315.00
Inspired by English and European antecedents, porringers were a favored form long produced by American silver and pewter manufacturers. Consequently there is an ample inventory available in the antique and resale environment, with many offerings largely undistinguished, quite in contrast to this exceptional, solid silver item made by R. Blackinton & Co. Large, the round bowl has a diameter of 4 7/8", a maximum span of 6 7/8" to the end of the "Chippendale" style handle, stands 1 5/8" high... Click for details

The quality of design and execution evident in this 7 1/2" tall, weighty at 6.8 T. oz., solid silver muffineer aka sugar shaker or castor bespeaks the reputation of its maker and the jeweler who retailed it.
