George III sterling child's mug, London 1809
Silver: Sterling: Hollowware
Albion Antiques Ltd
USIN507 $475
I have had numerous small mugs from the Georgian period but never one of this form, and never one that could be described as a child's mug.It has cute applied borders and an attractive cast handle. Never been inscribed. Visible construction seam by the handle and a turned base.
It has some intriguing scratched figures on the base, some small but all very light, that probably pertain to the construction. The most prominent is: 914 = 5" 7 dw. I am not sure of the 914 but 5" 7 dw would be the weig... Click for details

Exquisite Wood & Hughes Murillo Sterling Ladle Spoon
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
949a $ 145
Exquisite is an ambitious word to use in describing a piece of aged silver, but it is not invoked erroneously in the instance of this example by Wood & Hughes, offered in the Murillo pattern. It is a 6 5/8" long, solid sterling silver item that may be a ladle or a spoon; it has characteristics of both. The handle lies on the horizontal, but the triangularly shaped bowl is especially deep, with 1/2" high walls. This configuration would easily adapt to sauce or jelly. The pattern is one of W&H...
