Sterling Arts & Crafts basket, Georg Jensen style.
Silver: Sterling: Hollowware
Albion Antiques Ltd
SA2M03 $2250
A fabulous sterling basket with a hammered texture and a carved simulated rope ebony handle.
Unfortunately it is unascribed, only marked with Sterling and 925. It is very much in the style of Georg Jensen which leads me to believe that it was made by La Paglia. La Paglia was greatly influenced by the Danish silversmiths designs and I have had a number of hand-crafted items attributed to La Paglia with just the Sterling mark.
Excellent condition.
Dimensions: 10.5" x 6" x 9.25" to top of handl... Click for details

Joseph Mayer George Washington Sterling Sugar Spoon
Silver: Souvenir Spoons
Old Friends
854a $ 65

An iconic figure, Washington's immediately recognizable bust, dating from his presidential years, is set atop the handle, with a banner below this that reads "Washington." Other o... Wendell Figural Ariel Sterling Tablespoon
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
852a $ 90
Ariel is a scarce 19th pattern that bears the name of an airy spirit in Shakespeare's "The Tempest." The maker, Wendell Manufacturing Company of Chicago, chose to portray the figure as cherubic. Androgynous, he or she is sitting cross-legged, top and center of a highly embellished design. 8 1/4" long, this weighs a substantial 2.1 T. oz. It may have been a place item, but the heavy bowl with a pointed tip would suit it well as a serving spoon. The reverse has an Old English "D" monogram. T... Click for details
