Towle Canterbury Delicately Pierced Sterling Olive Fork
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
806a $ 42
Towle's Canterbury is a late 19th century, scroll and bead design. It is refined, but not unduly self-conscious in manner. This is a particularly appealing, delicate, small olive serving fork. It is 6 3/16" long, and has a pierced, so delicate as to be almost filigree, three tine serving end that is finished in a gold wash. There is no monogram or monogram removal. The condition is mint. The form and finish are flawless. Marks are the Towle emblem, 925/1000, and the word Sterling.

2 Vintage Arthur Price "Snowdon" Pattern Spoons (Cream)
Silver: Sterling
Baby Boomers Emporium
$10.00
This is a set of 2 Round Bowl Soup (Cream) Spoons by Arthur Price, England. They are in very good condition and I have to question if they are soup spoons or not but they are almost 2" across and 2 1/4" deep. They have some sort of symbol or logo on them as you can see in the pictures. This Snowdon pattern came from the Arthur Price Stainless Hotel Catering Line. The monogram was applied later by another company.
The total length of each spoon is 6 3/4".
Thank you for looking and please em... Click for details

International Cambridge Sterling Sugar Shell
Silver: Sterling
Old Friends
804a $ 22
Cambridge is yet another bead pattern, but in the case of this 1899 International sterling silver sugar shell, it is a particularly appealing one. The bead is pronounced and traces along the entire perimeter of the handle, and is finished with a little scroll detail at the top. The bowl is shell-shaped, and has flanged shoulders that continue the bead motif. There is a very fancy, art nouveau style "LFVD" monogram that is decorative in its own right. The condition is excellent. The form and... Click for details

Spectacular Frank Smith Applied Grape Punch Ladle
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
803a $ 550
This circa 1900, solid sterling silver punch ladle made by Frank Smith is a truly opulent piece, in scale, design, and workmanship. It is 13 1/2" long, and weighs a massive 7.0 T. oz. The bowl is 4 1/2" wide, 3" back to front, and 2 1/2" deep, and is finished in a brilliant gold wash on all surfaces. There are double pouring spouts. The design is a grape motif made of cast and applied grapes, leaves, and tendrils sinuously draped about the handle in an art nouveau interpretation. This is al... Click for details

Elusive Gorham Knickerbocker Etched Sugar Spoon
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
802a $ 95
Gorham's circa 1870 Knickerbocker is an elusive pattern to find, and not always easily identified. It is basically an upturned antique design, and generally quite heavy. This piece is 6 1/4" long sugar shell of moderate weight. It comes in plain and acid etched versions, of which this is one. The etching can vary greatly, and this is one reason why the pattern holds a certain mystery about it. The engraving on this is a leaf form, with a monogram actually incorporated in the design. There ... Click for details

Exquisite Gorham Fontainebleau Sterling Cream Ladle
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
801a $ 225
Examples of Gorham's Fontainebleau as pristine as this are rare indeed. The figural pattern is shallow and quickly looses its sharpness with even normal polishing over time. This 6" long cream or sauce ladle has seen little use or polishing, based on the detail it retains. The folds in the woman's skirt, the fruit in her basket and on her tray, her facial features, all stand out with clarity. The bowl likewise shows no wear to its matte finish gold wash, and the bright cutting remains just t... Click for details

Gorham Eglantine Solid Sterling Ice Cream Cleaver
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
800a $ 525
This solid sterling silver ice cream cleaver (or slice or knife) in Gorham's Eglantine (1870) is massively scaled. The overall length is 10 1/4", while the blade is approximately 5" x 2 1/2". The piece weighs a remarkable 4.5 T. oz. Eglantine is a high relief, cast design that features the rose for which the pattern is named. The surface is absolutely intriguing. It is textured, intricate, and organic. In this instance, the blade mirrors the fullness of the design, as it is engraved with c... Click for details

Alvin Melrose Sterling Jelly or Preserve Serving Spoon
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
799a $ 48
This sterling silver preserve or jelly spoon in Alvin's Melrose is 7" long, and quite heavy, weighing 1.8 T. oz. The piece appears larger than its length suggests (more like a small berry spoon), and has a generous 2 1/2" x 2" x 1/2", shell-shaped bowl that is finished in a mostly intact, lemon gold wash. The pattern features a thickly gadrooned border with a fancy scroll end. It is a finely made piece, with an elegant air to it. This is inscribed "Craig" on the front, and "1901" on the reve... This sterling silver sardine fork in Alvin's Old Orange Blossom is the smaller version of two produced. It is 4 1/4" long, with a 1 7/8" wide, pierced, seven tine serving end. Wm. Gale (NY) Heavy Round Tray with European Provenance
Silver: Sterling: Hollowware
Old Friends
796a $ 625
This solid silver tray is 9" in diameter and weighs a substantial 12.8 T. oz. It is stamped W. Gale & Son (NY), suggesting it was made between 1853-66. This dating is fully consistent with the style of the piece. There is a second, incused rectangle that is blurred, but the last portion are the letters ES, which may indicate Gale, Wood & Hughes, or Gale and Hughes, two Gales partnerships. There is no standard designation, but Gale went to sterling very early on, so this could be coin or ster... Click for details

Rare Gorham XVth Century Sterling Soup Ladle
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
791a $ 225
This sterling silver ladle is 13" long and weighs 6.0 T. oz. The pattern is XVth Century by Gorham. This is an 1890's design that Gorham produced only in a limited number of serving pieces. Its design inspiration is individualistic and thereby quite distinct from the predominant late Victorian and Art Nouveau styles of the time. This is finely crafted, with an especially appealing bowl that is 4" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/2" deep. The piece is in superb condition. There is no wear, the bowl is perfec... Click for details
