Circa 1870 Floral Engraved Sterling Sugar Shell
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
780a $ 24
The basic form of this 6 1/8" long silver sugar shell was widely produced, and particularly so in New England where this likely originated (it is marked on Sterling, with no maker's designation). The engraving on this, however, does distinguish the piece from more common examples. It is a floral interpretation, the blossom of which is ragged or hairy, and the leaves long and trailing. It fits artfully on the handle, which is also monogrammed "L" in a feathered script. The bowl is an appealin... Click for details

English Sterling goblet by Hayden, Charleston, SC
Silver: Coin Silver: Hollowware
Albion Antiques Ltd

This last partnership ended in 1863 when Hayden was in the Confederate Army and they subsequently set up business separately. This goblet must then date from about 1865 onwards.
