Exceptional Quality Whiting Aesthetic Sterling Mug
Silver: Sterling: Hollowware
Old Friends
707a $ 625
This footed, sterling silver mug is generously proportioned. It stands 3 3/4" high, is 3" in diameter, 4 1/4" across at the widest, and weighs 6 T. oz. It is a strikingly refined piece, dating from the mid 1880's. The motif is decidedly aesthetic in mode, inspired by Japanese design sensibilities so popular in the late Victorian period. The walls are bounded by raised banding that sets off a 2 1/4" matte finish surface. This has a light gold finish, and is intricately cut to the silver. Th... Click for details

Gorham Lady's Figural Sterling Sugar Spoon
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
703a $ 775
The 1860's were an expressive and imaginative decade in the realm of silver design and manufacture. This 7" long, sterling silver sugar spoon in Gorham's Lady is testimony to that impulse. Lady's was made in at least two variants, both of which featured a cast hand holding a spray of leaves and berries. This version places the hand at the end of the handle, while the other rendition has a disk end and the hand on the backside of the bowl. This piece is a superb example in excellent condition... Large pair of sterling vases by Gorham.
Silver: Sterling
Albion Antiques Ltd
SSO14 $2500
Here is a very elegant pair of sterling vases made by Gorham. The bases are cement-filled, but that is only the lower 1.5". I say this because they are not of flimsy construction. Instead they are sturdy and of a good gauge of sterling.
Each is engraved with a Coat-of-Arms, but to which institution they belong I am not certain. However, they do lend a decorative feature. The motto translates to: "I have chosen the way of truth". It is a popular motto and has been adopted by Elms College, Chicop... Click for details
