length five inches, weight 1.77 oz. Troy the set, excellent original condition, no monogram, gilt bowls. It is a pleasure to note the hand done details (twist handle, applied wirework; see photos three and four) in what was largely a mass produced item. See this wench bringing ale, that lad with with the pig on a platter, yet another with his lute. And a dame in a gown who seems to be saying "may I bring you another glass of red wine?" Gorham Newcastle Sterling & Gold Gilt Salad Serving Set

I have long felt that Gorham's Newcastle pattern, which dates from 1895, was underrated. It is a handsome beaded design with interesting serving pieces, and the pieces are usually hefty. This fork and spoon in this set measure a tad longer than 9 inches and retain their original gilt in the bowls. There is a period script monogram "T" on the handles (a photograph of the monogram is available and can be emailed on request). The set weighs a tad more than 5 troy ounces and 3 pennyweights (if silve... Click for details

There are some minor bruises on one side of the bowl; this really does not detract from the piece but is mentioned just for completeness of description. 1870 Coin Silver Presentation Mug

This coin silver mug is inscribed "Eddie from Lenox, 1870" on the underside, and has an "EG" script monogram on the sidewall. Presumably the E stands for Eddie. Stamped "Coin" and with the number "3," the maker is unknown, but the craft is of high enough order to suggest a major house. The body is canister form, standing 3 1/8" high to the rim, 3 1/2" to the top of the handle, with a top diameter of 3 2/4" and a bottom span of 2 3/8". The spread to the end of the handle is 4 1/8". This is a 4.25" vintage souvenir spoon from New Orleans. It has a gas lamp cut into the handle. On the back is the sterling mark and the maker's mark which is illegible with our equipment. It is a horizontal diamond with a design in the middle that could be a shield or staggered letters, we just can't be sure.
