Unusual Gorham Twist Handle Ster. Condiment (?) Spoon
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Old Friends
241A $ 38
This sterling silver spoon made by Gorham is 5 7/8" long. It is an unusual, non-line, design for that company, in that it has a twist handle shank. A not uncommon style among silver manufacturers, Gorham nonetheless rarely employed it. The form is enigmatic. The bowl is shaped like those found on egg spoons, but the size is somewhat large for that purpose. Plus the overall length would be a little clumsy for this use. This may have been intended as a condiment spoon, for horseradish or cho... Click for details

English Sterling Silver Glass Perfume Bottle Vanity
Women's Vanity: Perfume Bottles
Antiques At Time Was
tr5482 $82.00
This is an antique English Edwardian perfume bottle or vanity bottle with a hallmarked sterling silver screw lid that I brought home from England. The English hallmarks are for the famous London firm of Chas and Geo Asprey, the date mark for 1907 with the sterling lion rampant. The bottle measures 2.5 inches high by 1.2 inches in diameter and still smells of perfume. It was probably part of a vanity case or travel kit in the Edwardian era. It is in excellent condition with not chips, cracks or d... Click for details

Six Rare Gorham Enameled Spoons
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Richards Antiques
$120
The enamel work done by Gorham in the late 19th century is considered to be of top quality and it is also extremely scarce. Here is a set of six beautifully crafted spoons in which every detail displays the high standards of the Gorham factory at that time: the enameling is crisp and wonderfully colored; the twisted stems have in their crease a delicate raised rope-like pattern, and the silver is gold washed. On the slightly concave backs of the handles is a graceful three-letter entwined script... Click for details

Good George III Sterling Marrow Scoop, London, c. 1770
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Richards Antiques
$350
Nice George III sterling marrow scoop from a collection that came from Down East Maine. Measuring 7 7/8 inches, it is in good condition with no flaws. The marks are difficult to read because they were rolled in the finishing, but the date mark is quite clear and the London punch and lion passant are easily decipherable. The maker’s mark can be seen within the roll, but I cannot figure it out. Someone with better eyes or more familiar with the marks would probably be able to attribute it to a mak... Click for details

Sterling Japanesque fish servers by Gorham, c.1880
Silver: Sterling
Albion Antiques Ltd
SS2M29 SOLD
An amazing set of sterling fish serving knife and fork decorated in the Japanesque style. The blades are flat-chased to give a 3-dimensional effect, hence the necessity of a very heavy gauge of silver (check the weight below). Wonderful 'collector's' condition. Monogram on the reverse of each handle reads ALH, though I am not too sure of the second letter.
PS. This is not the set I had 3-4 years back brought out of hibernation. Identical form (pattern) but a different Japanesque scene.
