As usual, we'll make it into a quiz. Wile away your lunch hour and win a fork, a strawberry fork as it happens, this one in Howard's WASHINGTON pattern. The new questions: 1) What Marx Brothers quote crops up in one of our photo captions? 2) what breed of a dog is Miss Ruby Tuesday, the foxy little canine who shows up on these pages with some regularity? That's it-- no catch, no hidden fees, no snake oil for sale. All are welcome to try, and the first person with the correct answers... Click for details

four Whiting ALHAMBRA individual fish or salad forks
Silver: Sterling: Flatware
Bruce Cherner Antique Silver
1091 SOLD
7 inches long, fine condition if a bit too bright for my taste, monogrammed "MHW", obverse and "1938" reverse, marked M.W. Galt and Sterling. One thing is worth noting: these are made in two parts and the tine section seamed to the handle. The chances are that your eye won't detect a joint. However, this is unusual construction. It is possible that this piece was not part of the original production run, and made as a special order from two separate dies.
