Made by the McChesney Co. of Newark, New Jersey, the style of this child's porringer is reminiscent of Kerr's work. Given that Samuel McChesney was the brother-in-law of William B. Kerr and worked for his firm for a number of years, the kinship was dual family and design. This sterling silver cream pitcher stands 4 1/4" high, sits on a footed base that is 2 1/8" in diameter, has a span of 4" from spout tip to handle end, and weighs 4.9 T. oz. This 7" diameter, 1" deep, 5.0 T. oz. sterling silver dish is of a quality to be expected from an item that carries the house mark of Bailey, Banks and Biddle. This Philadelphia establishment catered to the carriage trade and this item would have been suitable for this market. The rim features an applied and reticulated border of clover leaves (all four leaf variety), blossoms, and tendrils. The interior is monogrammed in script "FMK/1900," dating it precisely. This c. 1890 solid sterling covered jar or canister stands 3 3/8" high, has a base diameter of 2 7/8", a top opening of 3 1/8", and weighs 7.7 T. oz. Its function is uncertain. It is large for a powder jar, and has the wrong sized top for a tea caddy, although it could serve that purpose well. Whatever its purpose, it is a quality item made by Whiting. Larger than a shot measure and smaller than a julep cup, but similar in design to each of these forms, this small beaker was made by Gorham. It stands 2 5/8" high, has top and bottom diameters of 2 1/4" and 1 3/4" respectively, and weighs just under 1.7 T. oz. In addition to the Gorham hallmark and the word Sterling it is stamped with the date symbol for 1911 and the number 4081 in a rectangle followed by the letter A. Woodside Reticulated Five Pointed Sterling Dish

Made c. 1900 by Woodside Sterling Co. of New York City, this 5" diameter, just under 2.4 T. oz., dish possesses considerable design appeal. It has a five-pointed rim that is heavily decorated with scrolling and lattice work reticulation. It could be used for candy, or even as a wine caddy. The bottom center is engraved "EB" in stylized lettering. It is in excellent condition, free of bends or dings. The underside is stamped with the Woodside emblem, Sterling, and the number 169.

This sterling silver bowl measures 10 3/4" long, 8 1/2" wide, and weighs 8.2 T. oz. It is relatively shallow, standing 1 1/4" high, and has a small 3 3/4" by 2 1/2", convex oval base. This has an inscription that reads in decorative script lettering, "BR and "FHE," flanked by "1866." on the left and "1891." on the right, and "May seventeenth." underneath.
