Monumental repousse sterling goblet, London 1864
Silver: Sterling
Albion Antiques Ltd
SS2A27 $4500
This is undoubtedly the very best trophy goblet I have owned. The repousse work is of the highest order in, both, artistry and craftsmanship. No skimping on the sterling either, check the weight ! And, what is more, it is in perfect condition and never been inscribed. I have just had it professionally polished as it was almost black with years of tarnish, and the detail that revealed itself was breathtaking.
Dimensions: 12.5" tall, 6.5" in diameter. Weight 44 Troy oz.

Victorian Irish sugar bowl, Dublin 1892
Silver: Sterling
Albion Antiques Ltd
SS3J19 $1500
Another good example of Irish silversmithing. Typically, these bowls were made over 100 years previously but, being in such great demand, they have been reproduced since to this very day. This one was made by John Smyth of Dublin in 1892, and is a very pretty and well-made article. It is chased with a rural setting of a dog rescuing, I hope, a person while the mother/wife looks on with her arms raised in relief. The rest of the bowl is chased with a tranquil scene of swans and ducks amidst reeds... Click for details
