Two rows of elaborate piercing highlight this superior oval sterling mustard pot with its elegant body, pierced thumbpiece and urn finial. It retains its cobalt blue liner. It is fully marked on the base (the maker's mark is upside down in the photo) and marked on the underside of the lid with a lion passant and the maker's mark, which is faint. Offering this child or baby sterling silver cup. As modern cups are very light I estimate this to have been produced approx. 1930's or 40's due to the 3 oz weight. Marked on bottom "Wallace Sterling 25". Cup measures 2-3/8" tall by 2-5/8" across and will hold 6 fl. oz. The handle extends out another 1-3/8". Cup is monogrammed "KAW". This is a copy of the original by John Dixwell of Boston, who died in 1725 at age 45. Original is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (see pix of inscriptions on bottom of cup). This piece was made in the 1940s. It is 3-1/4" high x 2-7/8" diameter at flared rim. Weight is a solid 6 T oz. It has an S-scroll reeded strap handle and a reeded band at the base. It is engraved Alana June in script on the front. Condition is excellent throughout.
