Gorham Art Nouveau Sterling Shoe Horn

This solid sterling silver shoe horn is 6" long, and weighs 1.2 T. oz. It was made by Gorham and is model number B2467. Similar looking pieces with close model numbers appear in the 1906 catalog. The art nouveau engraving on this, which includes a narcissus, is in a style that fits the early 20th century period. The blade has a script "GGMcM" monogram. The condition is very good. There is a little polishing softening of the engraving, but that is the only sign of use. Marks are the Gorham... Click for details

English, Birmingham 1902, Sterling Silver Thimble

This sterling silver thimble has hallmarks indicating that it was made in Birmingham, Enlgand in 1902. The maker's stamp is some rubbed, but appears to be "H.C. & S." It stands 7/8" high and is 3/4" in diameter. There is a additional stamp that reads "18." Presumably this is a size indicator. The piece is in perfect condition. There are no bends, it remains round, and is not punctured.

and engraved with flowers and foliage, height 1 3/4; diameter 1 7/8 inches, weight 1.62 oz. Troy, immaculate condition. Blossoms and the foremost portion at tip of leaf both erupt gently upward from the rounded surface, adding a sculptural quality rarely seen in napkin rings. Marked only S520 but presumably Gorham.

Each item of this pair of salt and pepper shakers stands 1 3/4" tall, and has a base that is 3/4" across. The sterling silver tops are stamped with the German crescent moon, crown, 925, and a maker's mark the is a K encased in a G. The ribbed glass bodies read TG and 2 in one instance, and TG and 6 in the other. Estimated age is mid 20th century. The undersides of the screw caps have white rubberized linings.
