Five o'clock coffee size at 5 3/8" long and weighing .5 T. oz., this spoon was made by Watson, whose Mechanics Silver division "Pennant" emblem and the word "Sterling" appear on the backside.

The pattern is "Pond Lily," which is a high relief, Art Nouveau design executed with the kind of detail, fidelity to form, and artistic expression which set Watson apart.

Each of these six spoons measures 4 3/4" long, with the set weighing just under 3.0 T. oz.

All of them have matching bowls and twisted stems, but are surmounted with an individual cast figure of a standing "Apostle," which is the generic term applied to this widely employed motif.

This particular group was made in Holland, with each piece bearing the Dutch "sword" emblem used 1814-1905 (shown lower left in above image), and indicating a minimum .833 silver standard (sterling is .925).... Click for details

One of the most collectible souvenir items ever produced, this 6 1/8" long, just over 1.0 T. oz., spoon features patriotic imagery.

The central theme on the handle front is Betsy Ross sitting at a spinning wheel making thread, presumably to be used in the flag she created for the nascent United States.

Other historic elements include thirteen stars surrounded by a banner that reads, "home & country," all cascading above her head.

Each piece measures 5 7/8" and is heavy, with the group weighing 14.6 T. oz., well over 1.0 T. oz. each on average.

All pieces are in excellent condition, essentially unused, retaining excellent pattern detail and with bright finishes. Some of the bowls show traces of an original gold wash.

Larger than most examples of this piece, measuring 5 7/8" long and weighing an exceptionally heavy 1.7 T. oz., this circa 1895 spoon was made by Watson, whose pennant emblem and the word "Sterling" are imprinted on the reverse.

A souvenir item, the handle portrays a standing miner wearing boots and a hat, holding a chunk of ore in his left hand and with his right hand leaning on a crow bar or such.

The figure is standing on a base that reads, "Struck it at last."

Measuring 6" long and weighing a heavy 1.3 T. oz., this teaspoon is an early example of Dominick & Haff's figural, 1900 date of issue, "Labors of Cupid" pattern, the image on this being a cherub sitting at a table with a cup in hand.

No one seems to be certain of how Connecticut gained this nickname, though legend has it that many peddlers frequented the area, selling nutmegs both real and fake.
