General Israel Putnam was a fabled Revolutionary War figure whose name and exploits were well known in the late 19th century, the period of this piece. The specific subject of this 5 1/2" long teaspoon was his encounter with a marauding she wolf in the northeastern Connecticut town of Pomfret. The neighboring town of Putnam is named for him. This sterling silver teaspoon is full-sized at 5 13/16" long. It weighs .9 T. oz. The pattern is Alvin's Art Nouveau Old Orange Blossom, which in this instance has been adapted as a souvenir spoon. If features a die struck image of Cathedral Drive, Lakewood, New Jersey in the bowl, and is so identified. It is in flawless condition, and without a monogram or removal. Porcelier china coffee pot with lid from the 1939 New York World's Fair. It measures 7 1/2" tall and is about 9 1/2" long from handle to spout. The lid is 3 1/4" wide.
