Besides making lighters Zippo in the 1960's and early 1970's made tape measures advertising different companies and others. This is a 6 foot measuring tape advertising LaPointe. It shows their logo on the front and the back reads "R.L.Gay 843 Main St. Manchester, Conn. Mitchell-3-1501. The tape measures approx. 1 5/8 inches square. My scan was unable to show the markings on this Slim Line Zippo lighter from 1961. It reads in black lettering "Governors' Conference 53rd Annual Meeting Honolulu, Hawaii June 25-28, 1961". All the lettering is in black and complete. The only reson I can give for it not showing up is that the lighter has a polished finish and I have had this same problem with others similar. My scan had difficulty in picking out the markings on the lighter but they are whole and complete. I do not know why my scan do not show the bird or the words New Mexico which are in black and complete. I believe it is because of the high polish of the lighter.
