Very Unique Silver-plated, or possibly Sterling 78” tape measure with the “Great Seal” of the United States embossed into side plates, half on obverse, half on reverse. I have seen an original box for one of these marked “Silver”. Very strong embossing, and very top quality made. I believe this was sold originally as a combination tape measure and paperweight, by F.B. Rogers Co. Made in Germany. Heavy, solid-feeling item. No brand name showing anywhere on outside. Offering this 4 fold 12" Carpenter's Caliper Rule. Ivory with German Silver framing and brass hinges. I can only make out that it marked on the ivory No. 99-1/2 & STEPPED and on the silver frame Chicago but cannot make out any other. It is in very good condition. It has a very small piece missing on the front near bottom.
