A very nice miniature cast iron train engine with tender. Measures
4 ½” long, 1 ¼” wide, & about 1 3/8” high. “The General” is in raised letters on the edge of the base on one side, & the tender is marked “W & ARR” on both sides. Unknown maker. Commemorating the Western & Atlantic Railroad & the great locomotive chase. No damage or wear. Could make a nice paperweight, or just add to a railroad memorabilia collection. It features a stylized train, the Frisco logo, and the signature of Clark Hungerford, who was president/chairman of Frisco from 1947 through the early 1960s. This is a beautifully detailed diecast replica of an early Lionel, permanently mounted on a section of rails affixed to a wood-look plastic base, and comes with a removable, clear plexiglas dust cover. The originally issued 1946 version of Lionel’s Number 726 was modeled after a real-life Boston & Albany locomotive. First one is “Old Ivory, Syracuse China inside a banner, O.P. Co., AA7 outside the banner”. Same except AA9, on second one, and third one has “5-AA, SYRACUSE, China” with no banner. All three are in VGC+, especially when age is considered. They all are glossy and bright with only mild/light utensil marks, NO chip... Click for details
