Coin silver teaspoon marked "S WILMOT" in rectangle. Fiddle thread pattern. This is either the mark of Samuel Wilmot of New Haven, CT, Georgetown, SC (1824-37) and Charleston, SC (1838-41) or of Samuel Wimot of Savannah, GA c. 1850-56. It could be either. It looks very mcuh like the mark attributed by Belden to the Charleston Wilmot. Probably made in NYC and sold in SC or GA. Most fiddle thread of this period was made in NYC and then sent throughout the country. S. Wilmot of Ga. may have... Click for details

Magnificent solid silver punch bowl with Asian chop marks. It holds 7 1/2 quarts to the brim. Eleven inches in diameter, 5 and 11/16 inches high. Repouse decoration around entire bowl and on the bottom. I thought this was Chinese because the chop marks appear to be such. Sotheby's told me it appeared to be made for the European market. An independent collector of Chinese silver told me that it looked like a piece sold in Bali. Probably late 19th to mid 20th century. I bought it from a... Click for details
