Long lived, Nathaniel Munroe was born in Concord, Massachusetts in 1777 and died in Baltimore in 1861, where he began working in 1815, and may have worked in Selma, Alabama, 1842-50 (source Maryland Silver, Baltimore Museum of Art).

This example of his production is a single, 6" long, not quite .5 T. oz., teaspoon, marked "N. Munroe," "10.15" for the Baltimore standard roughly equivalent to coin silver, and a "star," which may be a journeyman's mark.

Model Flint Glass Company circa 1890. The pattern on the cruet is called Model Bulls Eye. It features six panels with three circles in each panel on the exterior of the cruet. These are mold blown and does have a small pontil mark on the recessed bottom. Cruet is about 7 1/4" tall, (stopper included) and measures about 3 1/2" diameter including the handle. Original stopper. No chips or damages.

Hard to find Smith Moon and stars 3 3/4" tall cordial glass. They also list it as an egg cup, and it seems it is rare to find in this size. Replacements have them listed at 39.99 ea. I only have one in this size and it is in perfect condition.

Offered is a lovely example of the work of important Philadelphia silversmith Harvey Lewis, who is one of the pantheon of major silversmiths in American history. This teaspoon, dating by style to about 1810-15 give or take half a decade, is distinguished by its rare mark, which was mentioned but not photographed for Catherine Hollan's "Philadelphia Silversmiths". A Renaissance Revival design dating from 1875, Whiting's "Arabesque" is most notable for the prominent griffin or winged lion combined with eagle figure placed sideways on the handle, all set against a characteristic Moorish background.

This example is a 6 3/4" long, approximately 1.8 T. oz., gravy ladle with a 2 1/2" by 2 1/8" by 3/4" deep, oval bowl.

The handle has an Old English "L" monogram set in the reserve area.

Offered is a lovely pair of American coin silver master salt spoons or shovels by noted New York City silversmith William Adams (b. 1802 - d. 1861), an important and successful maker who received the commission for the Mace of the U.S. House of Representatives. Adams was listed in NYC directories between 1829 and 1862 (the latter being based on 1861 information). It is likely these particular spoons are from the first half of Adams' career.
